Elena F. Flagg, MD

Dr. Flagg earned her medical degree at Texas Tech University School of Medicine in Lubbock, Texas, and completed her Internal Medicine residency and fellowship in Rheumatology at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals in Richmond, Virginia. She is a board-certified Rheumatologist. She is a member of the American College of Rheumatology and Virginia Society of Rheumatologists. Dr. Flagg is married with three children. She enjoys running, yoga, photography, travel and spending time with her family.

Laila Rahbar, MD

Dr. Rahbar received her B.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her M.D. degree at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She then went on to complete her internship and residency in Internal Medicine, as well as her fellowship in Rheumatology at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. After fellowship she joined VCU rheumatology faculty as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and practiced Rheumatology at McGuire VAMC for three years prior to joining our practice. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. Dr. Rahbar is a member of the American College of Rheumatology and Virginia Society of Rheumatologists.

She and her husband, Ben, have four children, Amelia, Declan, Emery, and Brecken. She and her family enjoy spending time outdoors, traveling and cooking.

Misty M. White, FNP

Misty has a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Christopher Newport University and a Master’s of Science of Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a highly qualified clinician with over 15 years experience working as a Registered Nurse in Emergency Medicine and then joining our Rheumatology practice 20 years ago. Misty is an autonomous member of our health care team who is qualified to work independently and in partnership with the physicians to make direct decisions regarding our patients. She is a licensed FNP certified through ANCC, a member of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners, and the Virginia Society of Rheumatology. She is also a member of The Association of Rheumatology Health Professionals where she completed the Postgraduate Rheumatology Training Program.

Misty enjoys spending time with her family outdoors and she loves football!


Audra Albert, FNP

Audra has a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Point Loma Nazarene University, San Diego, California. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama, at Birmingham, Birmingham, Alabama. She brings a wealth of knowledge to our practice. Over the past 10 years, Audra has spent most of her career working as a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care, along with hospice care, and working as a Health Promotion Officer for the U.S. Army. Before that, she worked for 10 years as a Registered Nurse in Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care. She is a licensed FNP certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, a member of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners, and a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

In her time away from work, Audra enjoys spending time with her husband, teenage daughters and her two French bulldogs. She is an avid pickleball player, loves to cheer for the Philadelphia Eagles and enjoys paddle boarding, and anything to do with being near the water.


Danielle Shell, PA-C

Danielle earned her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Virginia, and her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Jefferson College of Health Sciences in Roanoke, Virginia. Danielle has been board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) as a Physician Assistant since 2019. Danielle is a member of multiple professional organizations including the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), the Virginia Academy of Physician Assistants (VAPA), and the American College of Rheumatology (ACR).

Danielle treats adults with rheumatic conditions including osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, lupus, gout, and rheumatoid arthritis, among others. She has a special medical interest in emergency medicine and internal medicine, and prior to entering into rheumatology she was a PA in emergency medicine through the first years of the COVID-19 pandemic.

When she isn’t seeing patients, Danielle appreciates the outdoor lifestyle that Hampton Roads has to offer. She enjoys hiking, walking, taking trips to the beach, and taking her dogs on walks with her husband. Since both she and her husband attended Virginia Tech, they also enjoy attending sporting events and tailgating for the Virginia Tech football team.
